Sonali Ray had training in Hindustani classical (vocal) and semi-classical music for many years. She had the opportunity to learn from eminent Hindusthani classical vocalists from Calcutta, namely late Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri, and Srimati Dalia Rahut. Sonali sings classical, semi classical and different genres of Bengali songs with equal proficiency. Her versatility in Bengali songs ranges from Rabindra Sangeet, Dwijendrageeti, Songs of Atulprasad and Rajanki kanta, Nazrul Geeti to Bangla Ragpradhan, Tappa, Ragashrayee Gaan. She has been gifted with a very powerful and melodious voice which is perfectly suited for any kind of songs. Sonali regularly performed as a child and young Artiste for Calcutta Radio and Television. She has performed at numerous concerts in UK, US and Canada.
